  • Employees and retirees of General Mills, Inc. and its subsidiaries who are paid or supervised from the United States.

Our History

Originally a state chartered credit union, Gold Medal Credit Union was established in 1935 to serve the employees and families of Gold Medal Flour Mill. In 1992 the charter was changed to federal and the name was changed to General Mills Federal Credit Union to better reflect the field of membership—all General Mills employees, retirees and their families.

In 2001, General Mills bought the Pillsbury Company which paved the way for the General Mills Federal Credit Union to merge with Pillar Federal Credit Union, which served Pillsbury employees. That merger was completed March 2002 and allows the General Mills Federal Credit Union to continue to serve all new employees while maintaining membership for anyone served by either credit union in the past.

Position Title: VP/ Chief Operations Officer

Location: Minnetonka, MN

Status: Full-Time (Monday through Friday)


The Vice President/COO is responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of the main office, branch offices and the call center. This involves responsibility for planning, organizing, implementing, directing and controlling all Operations and Call Center activities of the credit union in accordance with the direction of the credit union President/CEO and Board of Directors, and consistent with regulatory requirements. This position is also responsible for ensuring the highest level of member service is delivered to all members.


  • Develop, initiate and execute a strategic Operations and Call Center business plan.
  • Serve as a member of the senior management team of the credit union, participating in the highest level of decision-making.
  • Prepare and implement the budget for the Operations and Call Center areas consistent with the overall strategic plan and budget of the credit union.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of Operation and Call center programs for the credit union. Evaluate and communicate results, making revisions as appropriate.
  • Supervise the managers of the Operations and Call Center departments, including hiring, coaching, performance appraisals, IDPs and training.
  • Provides the strategic direction needed to assist the credit union in the development of a service culture.
  • Collaborate with Training Department in the creation of service training for the Operations and Call Center departments.
  • Develop, apply and evaluate policies and procedures for the departments.
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors (e.g. Garda, Diebold, etc.)
  • Recommend new services and products, and changes to existing services, and products to meet the financial needs of the membership.
  • Recommend programs and projects beneficial to the credit union and its members as a result of research, trends, member feedback, etc.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance as it relates to the development of products, services and delivery channels.
  • Consistently maintain and improve skills and knowledge for efficient service delivery.
  • This position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations.
  • Follow Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policies and procedures as they relate to this position.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the President/CEO and/or Board of Directors.

  • Understanding of state and federal laws that impact credit union operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities including strong human relations, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience coaching employees in remote locations, preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Travel is required.
  • Requires strong planning and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite products.

Position Title: Consumer Loan Processor

Location: Minnetonka, MN

Status: Full-Time (Monday through Friday)


The Consumer Loan Processor is primarily responsible for processing a high volume of excellent quality consumer loans and ensuring the successful delivery of the loan related services quickly, accurately, courteously and in a confidential manner. Such tasks include but are not limited to processing and funding loans, loading applications, managing reports, and filing liens.


  • Review loan data in system prior to processing for accuracy
  • Process closing loan documents and disburse funds
  • Process initial disclosures in compliance with current regulations
  • Load and distribute loan applications to Lenders
  • Work with vendors on a daily basis to ensure appraisals, title searches, etc are completed in a timely fashion and address any issues that arise
  • Ensure proper titles are received and liens recorded with state departments and will work with the state in certain circumstances to add us as lien holder
  • Send loan related letters and field questions in reference to the letters
  • Manage paid loan report and process satisfied liens
  • File mortgages and other documentation with proper state authorities
  • Review consumer loan files to ensure all necessary paperwork and signatures are present
  • Maintain records as required by regulations and policy
  • Maintain consumer home equity files
  • Receive and process life & disability insurance claims on consumer loans
  • Process loan related mail
  • Assist Lending Manager and Assistant Lending Manager with loan related reports and projects
  • Follow Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) policies and procedures as they relate to this position.
  • Assist lenders and other areas of the credit union as requested
